If the Brothers’ Court Chair position is vacant, the Chair of the Rules Committee shall volunteer to fulfill the duties of the Brothers’ Court Chair until a Brothers’ Court Chair is chosen.
The Chair of the Rules Committee shall use the most recently established Brothers’ Court Policy to fulfill the duties.
The Chair of the Rules Committee shall be responsible for educating the Active Brotherhood of all National and Chapter official documents.
Duties of All Members of the Rules Committee
All members shall be responsible for obtaining and having a working knowledge of the Alpha Chapter By-Laws, Alpha Chapter Standing Rules of Order, Alpha Chapter Policies, National By-Laws, and National Policies.
Be proactive in evaluating the needs of the Chapter regarding the Alpha Chapter By-Laws.
Attend all meetings.
Respond to the Chair of the Rules Committee in a timely fashion.
Fulfill all duties assigned to them by the Brothers’ Court Chair.
If unable to serve on Brothers’ Court due to conflicting interests, the member must notify the Brothers’ Court Chair immediately so that the Brothers’ Court Chair may find a replacement.
If a Rules Committee member wishes to resign from the committee, then that member must inform the Rules Chair and President of their intent to resign.
Executive Committee and Rules Committee shall, at their next meetings after submission of intent to resign, approve or disapprove the resignation by two-thirds (2/3) vote.
Resignation shall be effective upon approval by the Executive Committee and Rules Committee.
Interpretation
All interpretations of governing documents shall require approval of the majority of the Rules Committee.
If an interpretation of governing documents is urgent and a ruling by the Rules Committee is not feasible, then the Chair of the Rules Committee shall form a binding interpretation.
If Rules Committee is later able to meet and interpret governing documents, the majority of the Rules Committee may change the official interpretation of the governing documents.
Required Documents
If a required document is not submitted in a Word Document file to Rules Committee when it is due to Rules Committee, then the offending officer shall be fined $5.00, payable to the Chapter Treasurer.
Due Dates shall be given at least forty-eight (48) hours’ notice.
Amendments
Amendments to this Policy may be made with a properly seconded motion to amend during a general meeting.
Amendments require the approval of two-thirds (2/3) of the Active Brotherhood.
