Alpha Chapter Public Relations Policy

Fall 2019

  1. Duties of the Chair of the Public Relations Committee
    1. Plan the regular Public Relations Committee meetings.
    2. Delegate responsibilities to different Public Relations Committee members, as necessary.
    3. Manage social media pages and ensure regular posts to the Alpha Chapter social media pages.
      1. Post frequency is defined by the Chair of the Public Relations Committee at the beginning of each semester.
    4. Inform the Active Brotherhood and Special Active Brotherhood at least seven (7) days before publicity events.
      1. Larger events (events that require more than four (4) Brothers) require a two (2) week notification.
  2. Responsibilities of the Public Relations Committee Members
    1. Assist the Chair of the Public Relations Committee with their duties.
    2. Perform tasks delegated by the Chair of the Public Relations Committee for publicity events.
    3. Attend all Public Relations Committee meetings.
      1. Up to four (4) unexcused absences are allowed.
      2. Attendance may be excused by the Chair of the Public Relations Committee if they deem the excuse to be valid.
      3. Each additional unexcused absence after four (4) unexcused absence will result in a fine of $1.00, payable to Alpha Chapter, to be collected by the Alpha Treasurer.
  3. Publicity Events
    1. Definition
      1. A publicity event shall be defined as:
        1. Any event that raises awareness of the activities of Mu Beta Psi
        2. Any event that raises awareness of the activities of the NCSU Music Department, or
        3. Any event that the Chair of the Public Relations Committee deem to be a publicity event.
        4. Whether an event shall be considered a publicity event shall be left to the sole discretion of the Chair of the Public Relations Committee.
        5. The service point value of publicity events shall be determined by the Service Coordinator and/or the Service Policy.
    2. The Public Relations Committee shall be responsible for planning all special events and publicity events.
      1. In the case of publicity events for Pledging, the Public Relations Committee shall work with the Pledging Committee to coordinate responsibilities for these publicity events.
        1. Having representatives from the Public Relations Committee and the Pledging Committee shall satisfy this requirement if deemed fit.
    3. The Public Relations Committee shall be responsible for at least three different (3) publicity events per semester.
      1. Examples include:
        1. Serving food in Price Music Center
        2. Homecoming Week participation
        3. Founder’s Day celebration
